Monogamous Relationship Therapy
In relationship sessions, I practice Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). EFT is deeply informed by attachment theory. Using EFT, I help couples improve their emotional connection by understanding and transforming negative patterns. We will work together to identify your negative cycle (your “dance”) and the underlying unmet needs that are driving it. We will restructure your cycle so that you can communicate more effectively and reconnect.
Common concerns monogamous couples come to therapy to work on include:
insecure attachment
disconnection or increased distance in the relationship
parenting disagreements
lack of, or disagreements about, sex and intimacy
infidelity/affairs
disagreement about opening the relationship
and more
I also meet with engaged couples for premarital counseling and couples considering separation or divorce for discernment counseling.
